Data Sharing Print E-mail

Exchange, share, and collaborate documents in your online document space.

Document Sharing allows you to place documents online for friends, family, clients, and coworkers to access remotely from anywhere in the world. This is becoming a mainstream business delivery tool.

Think of it as an online drop box.

Example: For example; lets say you are a builder.

The problem: You call the architect for an updated copy of a blueprint. He has it in digital format but it's far too large for an email. He's in a different city and you need the file fast. What do you do? Fedex overnight will cost $35 and may get to you the next day if shipped in time.

The Solution: You create a sub account especially for him, give him a special ftp address and a password and he uploads the file directly to your account. Within minutes you see the file appear and you click download. A sub account only cost $4.95 per month and it just saved the day.

How to setup a sub account

1....Once you have setup an account with Backupshare you will receive a username and password via email for use in logging into the hosting control panel. Once you have logged in to the control panel look for the FTP manager.

2.... Click on the add sub account button

3.... Fill out the Create form giving the user a username, user directory, and password. Then click submit

4..... That's it. The user is now ready to access his/her secure folder using the username and password you just set.

How to access the folder with windows explorer.

Now that you have created a secure document folder you may access it using any ftp client software.

In our example we will use Microsoft Windows XP and ftp. All we need is the ftp address, our username, and our password.

We can now see the folders we have been given permissions to see and access this just like any other folder. We can drag and drop files into these folders or we can open the documents and make modifications and save back to the folder.

We hope you can appreciate the simplicity we have maintained in our approach to backup systems. You are free to use several means to access your data online.

Requirements:
Windows 9x/Me/2000/XP/Vista

***FTP and Email backups require existing accounts. You must be able to SEND mail through an account that can be accessed via SMTP or POP (most services that can be used with Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express are compatible).
